Marvin Marlyn just got featured on The Creators Project, on the cool new column entitled LAYERS.

On LAYERS, you get to see what happens behind the scenes of the tracks of today’s upcoming producers. Each track gets dissected into parts, bass, percussion, synths and what have you. Our boy Inko serves up a fresh beat for MC Arufe of A Coruña. Titled “Nebular Land”, this spaced out piece is available as free download only at the Concept Radio site.

It’s that time of year again. The prestigious Red Bull Music Academy is taking applications once more for it’s 2012 edition, in NEW YORK.

The Red Bull Music Academy is a world-travelling workshop and festival, a platform for those who make a difference in today’s musical landscape.

This year we touch down in New York, home to the Yankees, Coney Island hot dogs and some of the most game-changing music of the 20th century. To join this journey, you don’t need to be able to play violin at Grade 8 level, name all the members of the Wu-Tang backwards or know how to disassemble an SP-1200 using only a dime and a toothpick. What we are looking for is passion for learning and sharing, enthusiasm for music across genres, and a truly global, open-minded outlook.

This coming March 10th, 2012 at around 2:00PM you’ll see some of the Stereoptico fam get together again to talk about what a special experience it was and how it changed our lives. We’re also there to help with any question that might help YOU enjoy the same awesomeness we did. Afterwards, we’ll sit down and have a word or two with latinamerican hip-hop pioneer Antonio Hernandez, known by more as Toy Selectah, and known by many more by his biggest project to date, Control Machete. We’ll explore everything we can and then get a little more technical with a nice workshop. We are very proud to present the first release from Datawaves, an RBMA ex-participant who wishes to remain nameless for the moment, titled “EP1″. Take some 80s influences and a certain appeal for lo-fi production aesthetic with some kind of a lush pop sentiment, put it all in a melding pot and you get something like Datawaves. It’s the new experiment of a certain producer, trying to take his sound somewhere else.
